General Dynamics Corp. won a $289 million contract from the Marine Corps to design a remote-controlled, electronic, improvised explosive device countermeasure system.

The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract also funds logistic, technical and field support for high-powered, remote-controlled IED jamming systems.

General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products of Charlotte, N.C., will perform the work in Burlington, Vt., Hanahan, S.C., and Sterling Heights, Mich. Med-Eng Systems Inc. of Ottawa is the key subcontractor and will perform nearly half of the work, mostly in Wisconsin. General Dynamics expects to complete the work by July.

General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products is a business unit of General Dynamics of Falls Church, Va., The parent company, which has about 72,200 people employees and had annual revenue of $21.2 billion in fiscal 2005, ranks ranks No. 5 on Washington Technology’s 2005 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
